Miriam makes a difference in Care Recipients' lives.

Miriam Barber absolutely loves her job with Australian Home Care.

Since March 2007 she has provided respite care for people who have disabilities, are in need of specialised care following surgery, or are frail-aged.

Miriam draws on extensive nursing experience to ensure a dignified care environment for her clients. Personal care is a priority.

“I often assist with showering and dressing, supervise medication, prepare food, assist with eating and drinking, and accompany clients on outings,” she said. “Little things can also make a big difference and I try to think of the extras that might take the stress away.”

She is often taken into the lives of her Care Recipients and their families.

“Nothing pleases me more than to see my clients happy and comfortable,” she said. “On some occasions I’ve had the honour of accompanying them to special family functions where I’m treated with such high respect and regard. This has to be one of the great highlights of my job.”

Miriam is honoured to work with Australian Home Care and others less fortunate than herself.

“All credit goes to the efficient and helpful Support Workers and Coordinators who provide fantastic support and are extremely professional at all times,” she said.
