As a recipient of our service, you have the right to:

  • Be informed of decisions affecting your care;
  • Be assured that information concerning you is only collected for the purpose of providing your care, is not discussed with anyone outside your immediate care team without your permission and is kept in a secure storage facility;
  • Be provided with high quality services in a manner which enhances your independence and dignity with due recognition of your privacy;
  • Participate in the selection of your care team and participate in any specific in-home training required as part of your care program;

  • Expect that any Support Worker assigned to you will be appropriately trained and have completed professional reference and criminal record checks prior to commencing employment;
  • Expect Support Workers to be clearly identified by a name badge that should be displayed on their person or shown to you on request; and
  • Be able to contact Australian Home Care 24-hours a day, when and if required.

Your Responsibilities

As a recipient of our service, we ask that you:

  • Treat your care team with courtesy and respect;
  • Notify your Service Coordinator if your Support Worker does not arrive within 15 minutes of the agreed service time;
  • Maintain any equipment and appliances used by your care team;
  • Inform your Service Coordinator prior to postponing or cancelling a planned service so the Support Worker can be notified well in advance;
  • Not ask your Support Worker to perform any duty that is not included in your Care Plan;
  • Not ask your care team to undertake any task that would put your safety, or the safety of the Support Worker, at risk;
  • Not ask your care team for private contact details, including their telephone number; and
