The Victorian Government this week commenced public consultation to update the rights of people living in Specialist Disability Accommodation. Find out how to get involved.

A total of 32 sessions are scheduled across the State, starting this week until Thursday 22 June 2017. See the full calendar here .

The consultation seeks to align Victoria’s legislation with the principles of choice and control underpinning the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Consultation sessions are designed for family members of residents currently living in group homes and residential services and service providers such as Australian Home Care Services. Seminars for residents currently living in group homes and residential services are set to follow.

There are several ways to participate in the consultation. In addition to attending a consultation session, feedback can also be provided via an easy English questionnaire online. For all the details about the consultation process and the questionnaire, visit the Department of Premier and Cabinet’s dedicated webpage

The public consultation process concludes on Friday 30 June with the results of the consultation announced in September 2017.
